CREATES PRODUCTS

BETWEEN ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL

SHAPES in PLAY creates products between the realms of analogue and digital.

This creative interplay of both worlds leads us to designs of high aesthetic and conceptual originality.

SHAPES iN PLAY works at the exciting interfaces of
product design, craftmanship and digital technology.

We design
products with high haptic quality.

We create
digital concepts to comprehend complex data.

We develop
generative applications with intelligent behaviour.

We participate
in contemporary design discourse in theory and practice.

SHAPES iN PLAY works at the exciting interfaces of product design, craftmanship and digital technology.

In 2011 we, Johanna Spath and Johannes Tsopanides, founded our collaboration under the studio name SHAPES in PLAY for interdisciplinary design projects. We cooperate with industrial companies and cultural organisations, work on self-initiated projects and give lectures at design universities. The valuable synergies of these wide range of activities mutually benefit each other and trigger ideas for new projects.

SHAPES iN PLAY´s design projects range from industrial products, handmade limited editions, jewellery and interactive installations that generate 3D-printed, one-of-a-kind objects, to parametric data visualisations and user interfaces. We design new products, develop designs to expand an existing portfolio or create designs based on an existing idea.
